NSE Quotes – prev.Close/Last Price/open/high/low
The following are the some of the fields that are available under ‘Price Information’ section of NSE website.
Open:
The value against to it is the price of first trade in that counter on that day.
High:
It’s the intra day peak value of the stock.
It’s the intra day lowest value of the stock.
Last Price:
At any point in time during trading hours this value represents the price of the last trade in that counter. During trading hours this value is changed at a rapid pace in highly liquid counters. At the end of the closing hours it’s the price of the last transaction on the day. This value is used for charting purposes.
Prev.Close:
It is not the value of last price of the previous day. It’s the average price of transactions that happened in last half an hour trade on the previous day. This gives more realistic value than the previous day’s last price. At the end of each day NSE calculates ‘Close Price’ as the average price of all transactions in the last half an hour and this value is published in the Bhavcopy (available under www.nse.com ->NSCCL ->Notifications -> Archives ->Equities ->Bhavcopy). You can select a particular date and get the price information of all stocks in comma separated format. This Close Price is used as ‘Prev.Close’ price in the next day’s price details.
