NSE Quotes - Order Book
The following fields are available under order book section on NSE website.
Buy Section
Buy Qty is the number of shares that a person or institute wants to buy at that point in time and Buy Price is the price at which he/it wants to buy. Similarly NSE gives top 5 bids under this section in the descending order of Buy Price. If there are more than one buy order with the same Buy Price then the order which is placed first will come first and then next orders.
Sell section
Sell Qty is the number of shares that a person or institute wants to sell at that point in time and Sell Price is the price at which he/it wants to sell. Similarly NSE gives top 5 asks under this section in the ascending order of Sell Price. If there are more than one sell order with the same Sell Price then the order which is placed first will come first and then next orders.
The above logic is applied in order matching. Once the order is matched a transaction is said to be done and delivery of securities (in dematerialized form) will be done after 2 trading days (T +2).
Trading, clearing and settlement will be discussed in detail in the next sections. Stay glued…

Hi,
I have seen that there is a third number too, along with the quantity and price. Many times, its value is 1. What is that number and what is its significance?
Hi Rohan,
On NSE website under ‘Order Book’ Section there are only 2 columns for each Buy and Sell sections. Could you give me more details like where you saw the third column?
