Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is the Indian largest public sector petroleum company Established in 1956 and awarded ‘Navratna’ status in 1998. It contributes to the major part of India’s crude oil and Natural gas production. ONGC is engaged in exploration and production activities. Government of India has 74.14% share in the company.
ONGC subsidiaries:
ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL): This is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). OVL was incorporated in 1965 for the business of international exploration and production. The primary business of the company is to prospect for oil and gas acreages abroad. This includes acquisition of oil and gas fields in foreign countries as well as exploration, production, transportation and sale of oil and gas.
ONGC Nile Ganga BV (ONG BV): This is a wholly owned subsidiary of OVL and has equity in producing field in Sudan.
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL): MRPL has been taken over by ONGC in 2003 and holds major part of the stock. MRPL has a great turn around story under ONGC management.
