Earlier Reliance Infrastructure Limited was called as Reliance Energy Limited. Reliance Energy came into existence when it took over BSES (Bombay Suburban Electric Supply) in 2002. Reliance Infrastructure is one of the companies in Reliance - Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group.
The company is the only distributor of power to suburbs of Mumbai. It has also power generation facilities in Andhrapradesh and Goa states. Presently it is constructing 5500MW power project in Dadri, UP. It is in the process of listing its subsidiary Reliance POWER in major stock exchanges.
