The following fields are available under order book section on NSE website. 

Buy Section

Buy Qty is the number of shares that a person or institute wants to buy at that point in time and Buy Price is the price at which he/it wants to buy. Similarly NSE gives top 5 bids under this section in the descending order of Buy Price. If there are more than one buy order with the same Buy Price then the order which is placed first will come first and then next orders.   

Sell section

Sell Qty is the number of shares that a person or institute wants to sell at that point in time and Sell Price is the price at which he/it wants to sell. Similarly NSE gives top 5 asks under this section in the ascending order of Sell Price. If there are more than one sell order with the same Sell Price then the order which is placed first will come first and then next orders.    Read more

NSE Quotes - security information

The following fields are available under security information section on NSE website.

Security Name:

It’s the name of the company registered with NSE.

Face Value:

It’s the par value of the stock. Companies declare dividends as a percentage of this price. This value can be Rs1, Rs2, Rs5 and Rs10. If a stock market price is Rs 100 and its face value is Rs1 that means the investors are ready to pay Rs 100 for a stock of par value Rs1. This could be because of the profits generated by the company in the previous years or could be because of future profitability of the company or a combination of both these factors. In the above example the company might have already generated a profit of Rs50 - Rs60 and there could be expectations of more or less this kind of growth in the future. Read more

NSE Quotes - %change/Average Price/Total Traded Quantity/Turn Over

 

The following are the some of the fields that are available under ‘Price Information’ section of NSE website.

%Change

It’s the % change of the price, w.r.t. previous close.

(Last Price - Prev.Close ) / Prev.Close * 100.

The value obtained by this formula is rounded to two decimal places and shown as % Change.

Average Price:

During trading hours it represents the average of all prices of transactions that happened till that point in time. At the end of the day, it’s the average of all prices of the transactions on that day. Read more

NSE Quotes – prev.Close/Last Price/open/high/low

The following are the some of the fields that are available under ‘Price Information’ section of NSE website.

Open:

The value against to it is the price of first trade in that counter on that day.

High:

It’s the intra day peak value of the stock.

Low:

It’s the intra day lowest value of the stock.

Last Price:

At any point in time during trading hours this value represents the price of the last trade in that counter. During trading hours this value is changed at a rapid pace in highly liquid counters. At the end of the closing hours it’s the price of the last transaction on the day. This value is used for charting purposes. Read more
