What is sensex ?

SENSEX is nothing but Bombay Stock Exchange SENSitive indEX. It is the Bench mark index of the India’s biggest and oldest stock exchange, BSE. Sensex consists of 30 top and actively traded stocks in Bombay Stock Exchange. 

These scrips will be selected based on many factors. Based on exchange’s guidelines new scrips may be included in Sensex replacing old ones.

At present (13th July 2008) the following scrips forms the Sensex. The list has been put in descending order of their market capitalization(as on 13th July 2008).
